A lifelong Georgian native, Mary was well-loved amongst all of her family and friends. Despite her large family Mary always made time for everyone. She always provided support and love for her family. Mary was a nurse at Gracewood in Augusta and volunteered at numerous nursing homes, including the VA. Mary adored people and never met a stranger. She adored waking up every morning and speaking to her birds at her bird feeder. She was a loving mother and great-grandmother to her family who always welcomed everyone with a hug. Her family says she left this place a lot better than the way she found it.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Delphine Wade; three sons, Tommy McKinnie, James McKinnie and Coy Victor McKinnie; granddaughter, Shannon McKinnie; great-grandson, Maverick McKinnie; and great-great-grandson, Carson Anderson. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Ida Akin (Jerry), 16 grandchildren; 30-great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Columbia Road. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Prosser officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
