In his youth, he attended Girard College in Pennsylvania. He went on to be a graduate of the esteemed United States Naval Academy in Maryland, class of 1951. Thereafter, Remo dedicated his professional life to the highest standards of academia and service. He was a registered Professional Engineer in the state of New Jersey before relocating to the CSRA in 1989, where he worked at the Savannah River Site as a contract employee on behalf of a Boston engineering firm.
While residing in Martinez, Georgia, Remo was notable in the local community as an active member of the BPOE Elks #205 and the American Legions VFW. Additionally, he held the distinguished position of President of AACE International from 1991-1992.
Beyond all of Remo's achievements, he was also a devout Catholic who currently attended St. Mary on the Hill.
Remo was preceded in death by his parents Angelo and Evelyn Silvestrini, his first wife Rita Elsa Silvestrini, his daughter Diane O'Keefe, his son Remo "Jay" Silvestrini, and his sisters Edith D'Orazio and Rita Zinar.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Vera Silvestrini, granddaughters April Howard (Scottie) and Alison O'Keefe, great-grandchildren Connor Howard and Heidi Howard, and a cherished extended family. He will be remembered by them as a great man, loving and generous, who was truly one-of-a-kind.
There will be a visitation at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, 1420 Monte Sano Ave, Augusta, Georgia, set for November 20, 2025, from 11:15 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the funeral service starting at 12:00 pm. The committal is scheduled afterward at Westover Memorial Park, located at 2601 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, at 2:00 pm.
Remo’s final resting place will be at Westover Memorial Park.
