

He was raised in Woodbine, Ga where he attended Ralph J. Bunche High School. At age 13 the family moved to Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from West Philadelphia High School; then attended and graduated from an IT school in Blue Bell, PA.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp at the age of 20 an attended Camp Pendleton for basic training and technical school. His specialty title was a Master Computer Systems Engineer. He was later stationed at The Philadelphia Naval Base. While enlisted he received two Good Conduct Medals and a National Defense Service Medal. He received a Honorable Discharge in 1978.
After his military service, Robert remained in the IT (Mainframe) arena; later working for Great Western Bank and Princess Cruise Lines until retirement. He spent most of his life on the West Coast, before he retired to Martinez GA .
Robert simply enjoyed life. No matter where he went he wanted to have a good time and make people laugh. He loved creating and fixing things. Always had a project to do or came up with solutions to fix something or make it work. Some of his favorite times were sitting on his back patio, that he enclosed himself, and listening to music.
Robert passed away on July 29, 2025 at home. He was preceded in death by his Mother Vera Green-Simmons and Father Sam Green, as well as brothers Calvin Green, Thomas Green, and Sam Green.
He is survived by his children and their spouse. Robert L. (Wilhelmina) Green Jr and Shanna Green Williams; siblings, Annie Ledbetter, Emma Sutton, Cynthia (Wimberly) Stevens and Archard (Lisa) Simmons; grandchildren, Sonia Green, Monica Green and Alexandria Williams; bonus nephew Jonathan “Ben” Benjamin; as well as other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
