

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on November 8, 1925 to Jacob and Sadye (Smollen), Walter was predeceased by his brothers Leon and Henry and is survived by his sister, Lucy Lapid, his beloved wife of 67 years, Edythe (Bleetstein), his children: Judith Sosis (Richard), Oscar Bobrow (Kim), Sarah Bobrow-Williams (Franklin); his grandchildren: Leah Sosis, Morgan and Corinne Bobrow-Williams, and Myles, Isaac and Noah Bobrow, and many nieces and nephews.
Walter served proudly in combat in Europe in the Army Corp of Engineers during WWII. He graduated from New York University and Harvard Law School. He practiced law in New York City and New Rochelle, NY. Walter received recognition and awards for his numerous community services. He was past President of Temple Israel of New Rochelle and of its Brotherhood and was a founding member of the Interreligious Council of New Rochelle. He was past President of Meals on Wheels of New Rochelle, past president of the New Rochelle Rotary Club, a past board member and Man of the Year of the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle and a member of the New Rochelle Bar Association.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Temple Israel of New Rochelle. Donations may be made in Walter's memory to the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle or to New Rochelle Meals on Wheels.
