I remember Aunt Winnie coming to our wedding when she was 82! Many thanks to Mary Frances and Al for providing the taxi service. My own grandma had passed a few years before, and I never told anyone before that I wished Aunt Winnie would come to sit in grandma's place - and there she was! She will be deeply missed.

Am thinking of you today and saw a butterfly in my yard.  I wrote something on here the other day but forgot to sign my name so am signing now.

I will truly miss my Grandma, although I didn"t get to see her as much as I would have liked, she was always in my thoughts and prayers. She was a very strong woman who had enough LOVE for everyone. We will truly miss you Grandma but know in our hearts that you are now in Heaven. I love you and will think about you often.

Many years ago a popular song caught Mom's ear.  The first words are, "Love is like a butterfly, as soft and gentle as a sigh."  After that Mom began to collect butterflies, or at least all the gifts she received had something to do with butterflies.  Over the years she has accumulated quite a few.  All the children were fascinated by them and by her.  Some of them say, "She's my best friend," or "I like Meemaw Winnie the best."  I think it is because her spirit was "soft and gentle" and we all knew we were loved and cherished by her.

As I think about a butterfly and it's beauty, I am amazed that it started as an ugly caterpillar, but has since been transformed into a thing of beauty.  When a person comes to know the Lord Jesus Christ he or she is transformed as well, and his or her life can become a thing of beauty also, just like our beautiful Mom.

I think it was Shakespeare who said, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." Whenever we see a beautiful butterfly from now on, it will bring us joy, because we'll think of Mom.  But let us also remember the Lord who made her the precious influence she was, and the new life that can be ours in Him.  Nothing would give her greater pleasure than to know that we belong to Him and will all be reunited again some day when he calls us home.

Mom, I love you and miss you, but this empty spot in my heart will be filled with the joy of your memory and the hope I have in Christ.

Proverbs 31:27,28  "She looketh well to the ways of her household...Her children rise up and call her blessed.

May God's promise of eternal life be a comfort to you and may you know that the onces we love are never gone, they live within our hearts.

In these days after your passing I celebrate your life with so many wonderful memories. There was a butterfly hanging around us on the beach; I felt like you were watching over me. Although not at the service, my thoughts and prayers are with our whole Faour family wherever they may be. Love you Meemaw!

This quote embodies the spirit of my beloved grandmother, Mom Faour.  She was always ready to "put on her dancing shoes" and "go skip skapping."  She LIVED during her 101 years.  She exhibited the qualities of love, caring, honesty, and respect that are rarely seen in today's world.

I will miss her greatly, I will love her always, and I will hold in my heart all the wonderful moments we had together.

My sweet Meemaw: 

What a blessing it has been to have you in our lives for so long, so many memories that we will cherish forever. 

I hope all of us do instill at least half of your traditions and values as parents or when we ourselves become grandparents.  

I'll never forget the countless Sundays that my family and I got to spend with you over at our house after picking you up from Church. The things i remember most were the consistent Sunday paper readings with you (the Parade insert was your fave and the cartoon section of the paper), how much you enjoyed hearing my dad play his guitar and sing to you,me playing my "fiddle" ( not to forget the trip you went on with us to Opryland or Disney with my Orchestra) mom's awesome dinners, America's Funniest Home Videos,Butterflies, and night-time Sunday "Krogering" trips with mom and myself..

I think we will always cherish all the special Birthday dinners get-to-gethers and most of all spending Christmas time with you and family.  I think all of us will cherish all of the ornaments you made for each of us all them years!

Brian, the kids and myself all thought the world of you as did our entire family and know that we will all be with you in heaven one sweet day.

I just want to thank you for blessing my mother with your company also. I had never seen her so happy as I did taking care of you. You were never considered an in-law always were considered to be like another mother to her. You were and will always be her sunshine!   Thank you also to everyone who helped care for our sweet Meemaw over the years. 

God really blessed us with you! What an amazing grandma you are and have been.

My grandmother was a loving, caring, and funny individual. She cared about everyone from own kids, to there kids and to there kids.  She was a very special person in our lives and will be missed

 One of the good ones has gone Home to be with Our Father who art in Heaven. She will be truly missed. I can only imagine the reunion she is having up there. I know she will give my Zonie hugs for me along with everyone else who has passed before her. She has had a truly blessed life here on earth and the ones she leaves behind are the better for having known and loved her. I love you Aunt Winnie. Rest in Peace.

Dear Charlotte, my sincere condolences to you and your family on your mother's passing. What a blessing God bestowed on all of you to have her presence with you for so long. And I know the sadness you feel is softened by the celebration of a life well lived and your mom 's joyous homecoming. God Bless.

Grandma was woman of  love, patience and kindness and will always be missed and loved.

My family was blessed to have a loving mother and Christian witness among us for 101 years.  Winnie Faour was a selfless woman who had 12 children and raised 2 step children.  She was college educated well before it became a norm. She taught her family the love of our Lord Jesus Christ which was seen in the well worn pages of her Bible.  She taught us all the value of family and we are blessed to be close with all of her 12 children, 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She taught us a love of poetry and song, home-made bread, and how to stretch a meal.  Winnie spent countless loving hours making crocheted blankets, hats and booties for each new addition to our ever growing family.  We are all blessed to have a collection of crocheted Christmas ornaments she made each year for each child, grandchild, great-grandchild and great-great grandchild.  Those that married into the family were welcomed as her own.  She was an unwavering source of faith, strength and knowledge. 

At the age of 81 my Grandma Winnie came to help me when I delivered my son Albert. At age 85 she went to Washington, DC to help out when my 68 year old father had a heart attack.  She was a strong devoted woman who, when her infant daughter died on St. Patrick's Day, made Shamrock cookies so it would not forever be a sad day for her other children.  She embraced my grandfather's Syrian heritage and taught us how to cook Middle Eastern food and the importance of saving chick peas to make a cross in the hummus. 

She was known for her Momilies; timeless sayings that imparted the wisdom of life and parenting.  One of my favorites has always been:

If you promise a child something, you give it to him; whether it's a lickin' or a lollipop,

Mom Winnie will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on through her family, faith, strength and memory.

I am fortunate to have married into the best family in the United States.I will always have fond memories of Mom and very glad we had her this long, she will be missed.

Mom had so much wisdom and you could always go to her for advice.  When there was a time she knew here advice would conflict with your thoughts, she would say "son you have to make that decision, but you know what side I stand on."  This was always enough to alter my way of thinking.  I will always love.

You will be our thoughts and prayers. I am so glad we had the chance to see Mrs. Faour a few weeks ago. She was truly a loved and treasured person. She leaves a part of herself in all who know her. The goodness of her shines through her children and their families.

Mom I wish I had the words to tell you what you are to me, but !everything! is all I can think of. You are the most Kindness, Sweetest, Loving person I have ever known, and you will surely be missed. With all my faults your love for me never wavered.  !Yes Momma Tried! Ilove you Mom.

I am very fortunate to have lived in the same city as my grandmother and got to spend countless hours with her soaking up her wisdom and hearing the family stories that will be cherished in my heart.  I will miss her greatly, but know that I will see her in heaven one day.

Love and prayers to all.  Aunt Winnie will always hold a special place in my heart; so many memories to cherish.

Grandma taught me that love knows no limits.  Even with countelss grandchildren, she still managed to make each one of us special.

Most importantly, Grandma taught me what it meant to be to be a Christian.  Every time I saw her in the blue suit, heard about her teaching Sunday school, she taught me that being a Christian is about what you do, not just what you say or the church you go to.

Thanks for the baby food jars of blue frosting.  Thank you for comforting me when I woke up scared because my parents had gone out to a move.  Thank you for letting me peer over your shoulder all those times, mesmerized by your crochet hook.  Thank you, God, for blessing me with Grandma Winnie.

Mom I will always love you.  I will try to live what you have taught us, by the way you demonstrated: "Actions speak louder than words" rings in my head, as my fond memories bring a smile to my face and a sigh in my heart. You were truly the person God asked you to be, and I belive you will continue to lead me to that same path. Mom I don't know what is bigger, my smile or the peace I know you now have.

There are not enough words in the English Language to describe what a wonderful Mother we had.  She was a saint on this earth.  Even though she lived on earth for 101 years, 7 months and 8 days, it still seems so short.  Her love, devotion and unselfish caring of her family and all those she came in contact with is insurmountable.  She got to stay in her home until she "Moved. Up" just as she wanted, and we know she has moved up to heaven.  We love you Mom and will miss you, but know you are with our other family members who have gone before.  You don't raise a family of 12 children, plus help raise Dads 2 without being a magnificent person.  Love, Mary and Al

All of my memories of Grandma are happy ones. She embodied all the things that are good in this world - especially the love, loyalty, and unquestioning support of a big family. A matriarch in every sense of the word, a woman who will be missed immensely. Say "hi" to my Daddy for me, and rest in peace.

We were so blessed to have Mom for 101 plus years. She was the most self-less person,she taught us to have ntegrity, do an honest day's work for a day's pay, love each other, respect our elders and trust in God.  We will miss her and her wisdom, but she is in our heart. We know where she is and we will join her some day.
