
MARTINEZ, Ga. - Winifred Kathryn Davis Faour was promoted to glory on Saturday, October 20, 2012. She was born in Midland, OH on March 12, 1911 to Enoch and Mary Ellen Davis. She was high school valedictorian and went on to attend the Cincinnati School of Music. On a trip to Houston with a family friend she met and later married Albert T. Faour. They settled in Washington, D.C. where they remained until moving to Martinez in 1974. She was a member of the Salvation Army Augusta Corps where she previously served as Home League Chaplain and Sunday School teacher, and was beloved by many. She was preceded in death by her husband; children, Donna Jean, David, Norman, and Rosalyn (Mike) Long; and step children, Jimmy and Margaret (Linwood) Taylor. She is survived by children, Freda (Gene) Slusher, Mary (Al) Turner, Sandra Snelson, Doug (Peggy), Fred (Margie), Charlotte (Mel) Jewett, Rita (Leon) White, and Bill (Tina); daughter-in-law, Martha; 29 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Columbia Road Chapel with Lt. Col. Gene Slusher officiating. Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery in Westboro, OH. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
