Born on April 13, 1955, in Washington, D.C., Albert was the son of the late Albert Peter Ross, Sr. and Celia Ross. He grew up in Washington, D.C., where he attended Gonzaga High School, forming lifelong roots in the city he loved. In 1991, Albert moved his family to West Virginia, a place that would become home.
Albert was married to Margaret Ross, and together they built a life and family that meant everything to him. The two had recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected a lifetime of partnership, commitment, and shared memories.
He is survived by his children Christopher Ross (Wendy Ross), Katherine Ross, and Timothy Ross (Diane Ross). He was a proud grandfather to Jillian Hayes (Ben Hayes), Matthew Ross, Caren Ross, Ethan Ross, Nick Ross, Bethany Ross, and Luca Ross, and great-grandfather to Stella Hayes. He is also survived by his brother Richard Ross. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jerome Ross, Sr. and Christina Ross.
Albert spent over 45 years working as an exterminator, a career he took pride in. Even in semiretirement, he remained deeply connected to the people he served. He wasn’t just someone who showed up to do a job; he was someone customers trusted, respected, and genuinely enjoyed seeing.
Outside of work, Albert enjoyed hiking, golfing, and fishing, especially his treasured trips to Alaska. He loved talking sports and was a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, and Washington Nationals, while also following the University of Maryland and Notre Dame. His love of music leaned toward the classics, The Beatles, The Who, Steeleye Span, and the Grateful Dead, these songs that were always part of the soundtrack of his life.
One of Albert’s greatest joys was coaching baseball. He coached both of his sons and later his grandsons, quietly teaching them lessons about teamwork, patience, and simply showing up—on and off the field. Just as important to him was supporting his daughter’s ballet career, where he was her number one fan, never missing a chance to cheer her on and celebrate her accomplishments.
Albert also loved to travel, especially his cherished fishing trips to Alaska, adventures he spoke about with the kind of excitement that made you feel like you’d been there too.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the good fortune to know him.
Albert was cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist family with services.
