Calvin High

Calvin was born on May 28, 1936 in Falling Waters, WV and was the son to the late Ralph High Sr. and Lillian O. High

Calvin was a sweet and gentle person who was loved by all. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Calvin was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was of Pentecostal faith and spent many hours reading his bible.

Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting arrow heads. He also loved to spend time wood-working. He was employed by Berkeley County Schools and retired after 29 years.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Mary High; children: Ellen Y. High “Bonnie”, Donna J. High, Kimberly D. Everhart and partner Zach, and Travis L. High; step children: Robert A. Walker, Stephen Walker, and Jennifer Coddington and husband Daniel and the late Jerald S. Walker; grandchildren: Timmy I. Cook, Jennifer D. McMellen and husband Dennis, Tommy Cook and wife Rachel, Monica D High-Harper, Michael Guy Everhart, Emily L. High, Madyson Hawthorne; and numerous great-grandchildren including great-grandson Michael Cole who was the light of his life. Also one brother, Leroy High and wife Helen; and the mother of Calvin’s children, Gloria J. High.

In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by his brothers: Ralph High Jr., Marvin “Brownie” High, Ira High, and Joseph High.

A visitation will be held for Calvin on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at New Beginning Full Gospel Church from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm with Pastor Oscar Motilal officiating.
