Born on May 18, 1937 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Virginia Kirby May.
Charles was a retired staff sergeant with the United States Army. After retirement, he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he held many roles including a paratrooper and Military Police Officer. He was also employed with Shenandoah Gas for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ardella May; his son, Terry May Sr. and wife Tammy of Bunker Hill; three grandchildren: Bucky Michael, Terry May Jr., and Rhonda May; great-grandchildren: Brandon Riley and wife, Ashelley, Brianna May, Jayda May, Tyler Riley, and Summer Riley; and two sisters: Joann Spickler and Shirley May.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Kay May; brothers: Sammy, Harold, and Glen; sisters: Frances, Betty, and Louise; and granddaughter, Jordan May.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Rosedale Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
