

Born on January 18, 1948 in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Bernard S. and Cora E. Shepherd.
Charles enjoyed spending time with his wife of 50 years, Frances Shepherd, and their dogs. He was a jokester and loved to make people laugh. His hobbies included completing jigsaw puzzles, car restoration and engine repair. He had special talent when it came to vehicles and many other things, he was a jack of all trades. He also enjoyed watching football and Nascar. For 30 years Charles worked for The National Park Services. He was a Museum Specialist in Metal Conservation and retired in 2007.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances; children: Charles Shepherd, Dorothy Thompson (John), Mary Lee Newlin (Jason) and Becky K. Shepherd; adopted daughters: Joni Slonaker and Ann Simmons; ten grandchildren,Christina, Ashley, Brianna, Charles Shepherd III, Desire'e, Kimberlee, Samuel, Hannah, Kaylee and Colin ;nine great-grandchildren; brother, James Stephen; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Samuel John Shepherd; and his brothers: Bernard Shepherd Jr. and Franklin John Shepherd.
Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Johnsontown Bible Church Cemetery.
