David Trundle Jones, 57, of Martinsburg, WV went into the eternal afterlife on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 9:58am. David blessed the world with his presence on February 1, 1959 in Martinsburg, WV. He was the son of a most amazing mother, Virginia “Ginny” (Grove) Jones, and father Phillip Jones.
A 1977 graduate of Martinsburg High School, David was a stellar athlete who played Football and Lacrosse. He was on the National Honors Society, and earned MVP honors on the Lacrosse team. To this day people talk about his surprising catches, swift passing, and the astonishing goals that he scored.
On March 28, 1980, David married the love of his life, Leslie Ann George. Together they had 4 children and 5 grandchildren. He delighted in watching his children, and grandchildren, merely walk down the street, excel at sports, sleep, laugh, talk, read, sing, and breathe. They are true wonders. They were his life. He also loved making people laugh, his dogs, superheroes, anything Disney, doing yard work, going out to eat, the Oakland Raiders, the WVU Mountaineers, reminiscing about his childhood, and volunteering at his church.
David was employed by Parson’s Kia in Winchester for the last 20 plus years. He worked long hours to make sure his family had everything they could need and want. He helped so many people in every way possible and would never give up on a deal. If somebody walked through the doors, he was going to get them in a car, no matter what.
David is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Leslie (George) Jones; their children: Jacob (wife, Laura) Jones, Erica (husband Michael) Brooks, Jordan Jones, and Bethany Jones; Grandchildren: Madison Brooks, Charles “Charlie” Brooks, Audrey Jones, Derek Holton, and Boden “Bodie” Jones, also his brothers and sisters: (aka “Those Jones Kids on Delaware Ave”) Rick, Tom, Judy, Ronnie, Steve, Joe and Diana. He is preceded in death by his parents Virginia and Phillip Jones, and brother Ernest Jones.
A service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016, 11:00am at Trinity Episcopal Church in Martinsburg, WV followed by a luncheon (David loved to eat). Instead of flowers, we ask that donations be made to: Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 W King St, Martinsburg, WV 25401. The funds will then be donated to Peterkin, a church camp that has great meaning to David and his family.
