
Born March 29, 1955, in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Irving Chofnas and Susan Jane Chofnas.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Susan Marie Dennis and husband, Ron Dennis, of Martinsburg; and Elizabeth Anne Bostic and husband, Dave Bostic, of Martinsburg.
Ellen is also survived by two grandchildren, Kaitlin Marie Dennis and Christopher James Dennis, of Martinsburg. Additionally, Ellen is survived by one sister, Judith Chofnas Miller, of Martinsburg; and one brother, Eric Chofnas, of Alpharetta, Georgia. Ellen is also survived by one nephew, Ethan Douglas Miller and wife, Tara Miller, of Martinsburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Wayne D. Miller.
Ellen attended and graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1973. Later, Ellen attended Shepherd University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduating from college, Ellen worked for BB&T for 25 years until she retired.
Spending time with her family was of utmost importance to Ellen. She enjoyed nothing more than weekly Sunday dinners with her two daughters and two grandchildren as well as their annual beach trip each summer.
Besides spending time with her family, Ellen was an avid reader who enjoyed reading a variety of genres.
Ellen was a kind and gentle person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home. Services will be held directly after visitation at 1 p.m. on September 2, 2020 at Rosedale Funeral Home. Interment will be immediately following in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Clary Grove of Martinsburg and Hospice of the Panhandle for the attention and compassionate care that they gave to Ellen during her time under their care.
