Hughbell Washington

Born December 12, 1916 in Shepherdstown, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Clark Washington.

Hughbell was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church in Shepherdstown, WV. She served on the Willing Workers Club and was a homemaker.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her nieces/ foster daughters; Elizabeth A. Cook and Karen L. Walker both of Shepherdstown; Foster son, William J. Grantham, Jr. and wife Cynthia of Shepherdstown; Godson, Allen Ford III of Ranson; Sister-in-law, Hazel Washington of Shepherdstown; Niece, Ashley Johnson; Special Cousins, Rosa Lee Shanton, Brenda Branson-Johnson, Viola Hodge; and Special friends, Genevieve Monroe and Edith Holmes.

She also leaves her extended families; Dorothy Grantham and family, Brian and Sylvia Ellsworth and family, Mitch and Karen Sue Johnson and family, the Green sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday January 18th at 12:00pm with visitation one hour prior at St. John’s Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Liles officiating. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
