James W. Hockenberry

Born May 19, 1946 in Martinsburg, he was the son of Claude Raymond Hockenberry and Alice Virginia Hockenberry. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Hockenberry; two sons Eric Hockenberry and Brooke Jackson of Winchester VA and Brian Hockenberry and Carrie Daugherty of Fairfax, VA and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jim was a 1964 graduate of Martinsburg High School and a 1969 graduate of Shepherd College where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity – EK #94. He enjoyed coaching his sons in little league baseball and basketball where he touched the lives of many young children in South Berkeley. He was also an avid Washington Redskins, Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles fan. Jim attended Pikeside United Methodist Church and Bunker Hill United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations on his behalf to the Pikeside United Methodist Men, 25 Paynes Ford Rd. Martinsburg WV 25405.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at the Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Services will be held 2pm Friday, Sept. 18, at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Martinsburg. Interment will be held in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg.
