Jodi was born to Kenneth John Hamilton and Joan Gertrude (Drouin) Hamilton, on March 13, 1969, in Willingboro, New Jersey, and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from Wolfson High School in 1987 and joined the U.S. Coast Guard. She met her husband, Bryan Downey Fisher, while they served together in Guam, and the couple were married on February 7, 1992, in Norfolk, Virginia. She later attended Western Washington University and earned her BA in Physical Education and Sports Science.
Her beloved daughter, Kellie Louise Fisher, was born in Orlando, Florida on December 5, 2000.
Jodi was a loyal, loving, and devoted wife and mother, for whom family and friends always came first. She found great comfort at the beach, where she would walk in the sand and hear the soothing sound of ocean waves, which were a balm to her soul. She was a competitive swimmer beginning at age seven, and she became a gifted aquatics instructor and coach in later life. She had a special love for children, hundreds of whom she taught to swim and be water-safe. Her students always loved being with “Miss Jodi.”
Gifted with a positive outlook, an active and rollicking sense of humor, and a naturally sunny disposition, she became a favorite everywhere she went. She will be deeply missed by her family the many friends and acquaintances whose lives she touched.
A visitation will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 5-7 pm. Funeral Services will be on Friday May 10, 2024 at 10 am with burial to follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
