

Paul Speck Clohan Jr., 75, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, at his home. He was born March 8th, 1947 to the late Paul Speck Clohan Sr. and Helen Clara Steinbach in Salzburg, Austria.
Paul had an interesting and varied career path. He was a pilot in the United States Air Force (1967-1978), an engineer at Sperry Secor (1978-1979), an engineer and later patent attorney at US Army Harry Diamond Labs (1979-1990), a patent attorney at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (1990-1994), an armored car driver at Federal Armored Express (1994), a Montgomery County police officer (1995), a patent attorney at Army Research Laboratory (1996-2001), a bailiff for Berkeley County (2001-2002), a parole officer for the state of West Virginia (2002), and a security guard for Arrow Security (2008-2012).
He graduated high school from McLean High School in 1965, and went on to study Industrial Engineering at Virginia Tech (1965-1967), graduating from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering degree in 1970. He went on to obtain a law degree from George Mason University School of Law in 1986.
Paul had wide-ranging interests, including many outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, biking, and kayaking. He enjoyed animals, particularly his lab retrivers. He liked golf, movies, politics, and dog walks. Aviation was his greatest passion, and it's been said he was born to fly. He enjoyed spending his time at the Eastern Panhandle Regional Airport as a member of the E.A.A., building planes and flying. He led an interesting and diverse life.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Clohan; brother Gary Clohan (Chris); daughter Tracy Katharine Bamberger, son Christopher Paul Clohan; three grandchildren, Ashleigh Kinnaman (J.J.), Michael Clohan, and Charlotte Clohan; three great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Jaxten, and Violet; and beloved pets, Willie and Beau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen Clohan; his paternal grandparents, Archibald and Pauline Clohan; and his maternal grandparents, George and Maria Steinbach.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022, from 10AM-12PM at Rosedale Funeral Home, 917 Cemetery Rd. Martinsburg WV. Service will begin at noon. Graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetry at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the following:
