A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Richard lived a life marked by, deep faith, and a passion for knowledge. He studied at the University of Maryland and spent the majority of his professional life as an Analytical Research Chemist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he dedicated himself to scientific inquiry and public service.
Richard was a cherished member of the Independent Bible Church (IBC) in Hedgesville, where he actively participated in senior church groups and found fellowship, encouragement, and joy. His faith remained a source of strength and comfort throughout his life, particularly in his later years when his health declined.
He is survived by his loving children: his son, Douglas Brown; and his daughters, Barbara Roberts and Deborah Brown. He was a proud grandfather to Chrissy Frazier, Amy Sloan, Diane Brookshire, Cindy Pope, Crystal Davis, Kenneth Logan, and Samantha Gomez.
Those who knew Richard will remember his warm heart, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
