Rick is survived by his two children, Megan Leigh Smallwood and Jason Adair Smallwood. He was preceded in death by his father, William N. Smallwood, mother, Pattsy June Smallwood, and brother Tracy Smallwood.
Rick was known for his skills as a horseman. He had a long career as a professional jockey. After retiring from racing his specialty was breaking young horses and galloping future racehorses. Rick was a hard worker, but nothing surpassed his love for his children.
