
Roscoe Garfield Grey, Jr., 82, of Charles Town, WV, passed from this life on Friday, June 20, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He survived by his wife of 60 years, Rachel Emma (Myers) Grey.
Born in Charles Town, he was the son of the late Roscoe Garfield, Sr. and Lottie V. (Domer) Grey.
Garfield served during the Korean War as a corporal in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He retired as a plumber after 50 years of service.
He loved spending time with his large extended family. He was a devoted husband, father, grand-father, great grandfather, brother, and father-in-law. He was known to his family and friends as a “practical joker” and a “jack-of-all-trades”. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR.
Garfield served as a member of the Harpers Ferry Bolivar Veterans Association Honor Guard.
Garfield is survived by his daughter, Darcy Aits and husband, Ricky of Charles Town; his one son Gregg Grey and wife, Ruby of Ransom, WV; Sisters Janice Schroyer of Charles Town, and Alice Brown of Ranson; brother, Gary Grey of Charles Town; and by six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Lee Grey.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Rosedale Funeral Home, 917 Cemetery Road, Martinsburg, WV. Rev. Bucky Chapman will officiate. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
