Stephen Turpack, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 83, just weeks shy of his 84th birthday.
Born on May 27, 1942, in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, Stephen was the son of the late Michael and Celia Turpack. He lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and deep love for his family. He later relocated to Washington, D.C., where he built a distinguished career and a life rooted in integrity, discipline, and purpose.
A proud graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Stephen earned a degree in mathematics and went on to serve the federal government for 36 years as a GS-15 Analyst. His work with organizations including Defense Mapping and the Department of Commerce reflected not only his sharp mind, but also his commitment to service and doing things the right way.
Outside of his career, Stephen found joy in discipline and movement. He was an avid tennis player and a dedicated runner, participating in track and field and cross country. He also believed strongly in civic duty, volunteering at local polling stations year after year without seeking recognition.
Above all, Stephen was a devoted husband, father, and family man. His life was centered around his wife and daughters, and he gave himself fully to their well-being, their happiness, and their future. His love was steady, constant, and deeply felt in the everyday moments that mattered most. He was a provider, a protector, and a quiet source of strength who could always be counted on.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Turpack; his daughters, Stephanie Meisner and Courtney Turpack; his granddaughters, Taylor, Caty, Loghan, and Maddy; his sister, Kathleen “Kitch” Parks and her husband, Richard Parks; his nieces, Kimberly and Lauren, and their families; as well as many beloved extended family members on both the Turpack and Donna’s side of the family, including Gayle, and her son. Other family members and cousins include Sean, Eric, Stacy, Craig, and Brian, along with their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his cherished companions, Coco, his one-year-old long-haired miniature Dachshund, and two grand-dogs, Winnie and Shadow.
Stephen will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for who he was: a man of integrity, humility, and deep devotion. His presence brought comfort, stability, and love to those around him, and his legacy will live on through the family he cared for so deeply.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home, on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 10:00 am until the start of funeral services at 11:00am. Stephen will be laid to rest at Rosedale Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Rumsey Tavern at 233 Lowe Drive, Shepherdstown, WV 25433.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Stephen’s memory to the Berkeley County Humane Society, 554 Charles Town Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405.
