Arnie was born February 21, 1950 to Brian and Alice (Dishon) Branscome in Seattle, WA. His parents settled on a small farm in Getchell, WA, where his dad commuted to Boeing for work. Arnie graduated in 1968 from Marysville High School in Marysville, WA. He met and married his first wife, Lorie, and welcomed daughter, Amy, in 1974 and son, Matt, in 1975. He worked for many years for Bayliner Marine Corp. before moving his family to Billings, MT in 1980 for a 3.5-year stint as the manager of Component Structures, a fiberglass tank manufacturing company in Laurel. Returning to Washington in 1984, the family settled in Marysville. Arnie briefly returned to Bayliner, and then went to work for The Boeing Company in Everett.
After Arnie and Lorie divorced in 1997, Arnie found love again when he met Roberta Sue Northern at the Lake Stevens Cafe after being introduced by friends. They were inseparable. They married on July 27, 2001 and built their dream home on Camano Island, commuting together to Boeing and traveling to tropical destinations during vacations. After retirement, Arnie and Sue chased the sun and warmth to Lake Havasu City, AZ. Sadly, Sue passed away there in 2015. Heartbroken, Arnie moved to Arlington, WA in 2016 to be closer to his kids, their families and his friends.
Arnie loved fishing, crabbing and boating, having learned a love of the Puget Sound from his father, and passed that love on to his own kids. Lorie taught him to cook so many years ago, and he was a great cook, perfecting his crockpot chili recipe, Chili con Arnie and delicious Chinese BBQ Pork. Ever the car and power boat enthusiast, Arnie took pristine care of his ‘35 Chevy Master Coupe and ‘49 Willys Jeepster Phaeton, entering the Chevy in several car shows over the years, and taking his beloved dog, Cooper, for rides in the Jeepster. Arnie was proud, headstrong, sensitive and had a great laugh. He was handy and great at math and measurements, and built several pieces of furniture and backyard decks in his day. He loved music, and played his classic rock albums loudly (likely also singing along enthusiastically - and badly) until his last days at home.
Arnie is survived by his children, Amy (Paul) Lagerquist and Matt Branscome and his partner Morgan Barrows, Sue’s daughter, Christina Jacobsen and son, Jason Bernethy, grandchildren Asher Lagerquist, Gemma Lagerquist and Alex Barrows Branscome, Sue’s grandchildren Maddie Anderson, Drew Anderson and Cole Jacobsen, sister, Barbara Cronin, two nephews and one niece, and dear lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue, his parents, his older half-sisters, Dee Chapman and Inez Murphy, his younger sister, Brenda Branscome, and three of his grandchildren, Aliya and Bennett Lagerquist and Mira Rose Kalenderian Branscome.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
