Pastor Casey Chacko was born on January 28, 1939, as the second in a family of three between two sisters. As a young man, he joined the Indian Air Force. He had his training in Bangalore and subsequently was placed in different states in India. In January of 1976, he came to the United States of America where he worked as a security guard while completing a business degree at ITT business school. Soon after graduation he got a job working for the Safeco Insurance Company.
From his early years, Pastor Chacko was a dedicated Christian and had a passion for community and church life. His dad was closely involved with the Marthoma church and was very influential in setting up a new Marthoma parish near their community. Later on in his life, Pastor Casey was drawn to the Pentecostal church and was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit in 1956.
While in the Air Force, Pastor Chacko was always searching for opportunities to meet with and have fellowship with other Christians. Since there were no other prayer meetings nearby, he started a Friday prayer group at the Air Force Camp. He continued that tradition in the USA, initially at his apartment and later on at his house in Beacon Hill.
Soon after his arrival in the USA, Pastor Chacko became one of the leaders who organized the inter-denominational India Christian Fellowship (ICF). Later on, he went on to take charge of the South India Christian Fellowship (SICF) and did it faithfully. As the community grew and several churches including the Marthoma church and Indian Pentecostal Churches got established in the area, Pastor Chacko kept a great relationship with everyone irrespective of the denomination. He was not one to shy away when it came to things of God. His love for the word of God led him to attend the Dominion College to pursue a degree in theology.
He was a man of prayer and of great faith! Through his prayer ministry and the Friday prayer group, countless people and families were touched. He himself was a sign post pointing the way to our Lord Jesus Christ; for him, it was always about our Lord.
Pastor Casey is survived by his wife Mariamma Chacko, his son Rajan, daughter Ani and their daughter-in-law Susan, son-in-law Sunil and four loving grandkids - Allen, Anita, Alice and Sam. Along with his wife, he raised his children to love God and seek His face at all times. He was a devoted husband and a loving father.
Pastor Casey lived a full and happy life. We praise God for giving us such a man, a humble servant of God. He will be dearly missed.
Psalm 103:17 “But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children”. (One of dad’s favorite verses).
