Dorothy Myrtice Kirk

Dorothy M. Kirk (Pierce) formerly of West Hartford, CT, died at the age of 94 surrounded by her children in her apartment at Brookdale Senior Living in Marysville, WA on the 6th of August 2016. Dorothy was born in Hartford, CT June 30, 1922 to Carl and Christine Pierce and graduated from William Hall High School in West Hartford, CT in 1940. After graduating from Williamantic Trade School as an LPN, she served in the United States Navy as a Wave and a Pharmacist's Mate 3/C. She also worked in Seattle General Hospital as an LPN.

Dorothy married Donald R. Kirk in 1948 and resided in Seattle, WA for five years before moving to Marysville, WA in 1953. She was employed as an LPN at Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington, WA for 21 years and retired in 1987. She volunteered at the Marysville, WA Visitor's Information Center and was the President of the Marcus Whitman Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a Charter Member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Marysville. Dorothy enjoyed painting, traveling, music and the arts, and crocheting.

Dorothy is survived by her son Russell (Nancy) Kirk of Everett, WA, son Bruce (Carole) Kirk of Granite Falls, WA, daughter Donna (Paul) Korneliussen of Mount Vernon, WA. Grandchildren, Brent Kirk, Patrick (Anne) Severson, Jennifer (Chris) Bentancourt-Korneliussen. Seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Elizabeth, Luke, and Julia Severson, Avery and Marcus Milham, and Kati Hamilton. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Carl and Christine Pierce, sister Barbara Lawson, granddaughter Lisa Kirk, and her husband Donald R. Kirk.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital in Seattle, WA and Saint Philip's Episcopal Church in Marysville, WA. A private graveside service will be held for the family per her request. A celebration of her life will be held at Brookdale Marysville for all who wish to join us on August 20, 2016 at 1pm. 9802 48th Dr NE, Marysville, WA 98270.
