Eleanor Regina Christensen of Lake Stevens, 93, passed away on August 21, 2024, in Arlington, Wa. Born in Anaconda, Montana she lived a life filled with love, family, faith and deep community connections.
Eleanor was the devoted wife of Donald Christensen Jr. for 67 years, until his passing in 2018. Together, they created a lively home, raising four children—Jeffrey (Melody), Linda, Lisa (Tom), and Karen. Her extended family will always remember the magic of her holidays, the steady rhythm of her handwritten cards, and her refrigerator and hallways, covered in photos, each one a testament to a boundless pride in family.
As a teenager, Eleanor’s operatic voice became beloved by many. In her hometown of Anaconda, she sang listener requests on her radio show, Eleanor’s Hour. Her soaring soprano was nothing short of astonishing, especially coming from her tiny frame. Throughout her life, she continued to share the power of song, and her emotional rendition of Ave Mariagraced the weddings of many family members, gifting memories that will be cherished forever.
Eleanor spent her middle years writing obituaries for The Everett Herald, and now, her own life comes full circle in these words. Her voice also led the choir at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Everett, where her faith and love for music intertwined year after year.
Eleanor’s voice, though quiet now, continues to resonate through the lives of her family and friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She is reunited with her beloved husband Don, and her parents John and Mildred. She is survived by her brother, Ronald, 4 children, 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on September 27, 2024, at Our Lady of Hope Chapel in Everett, 2617 Cedar St. All are welcome to join in celebrating her remarkable life.
