Born on May 15, 1940, in Everett, Washington, Gary was a life-long resident of Marysville.
Gary attended Marysville-Pilchuck school district, graduating in 1958. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard after high school and served as a Machinist’s Mate until 1963, developing his life-long love of machinery.
After his Coast Guard service, Gary continued his Machinist craft, working as a Millwright as well as fixing up used machinery and crafting parts. Gary worked for many years (and was still working) at Buse Timber & Sales in Everett, Washington. Even at the age of 83, he loved his work and couldn’t imagine not working.
Gary cherished family. He is survived by his sister, Linda Larsen (David) of Darrington. Linda and David’s three children—Michele Mann, Kathleen Williams, and Diane Larsen—as well as his nephew Roger Walker, child of sister Phyllis, were dear to Gary’s heart. He is also survived by grand-nieces and nephews and was very proud of their accomplishments.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Fremont Taubeneck, and his mother, Lila Christensen Taubeneck, both of Marysville. Three siblings—Lloyd Taubeneck (of Marysville), Shirley Saccone (of New Jersey), and Phyllis Walker (of Montana)—also preceded him in death. All are loved and missed.
Gary will be interred at the Marysville Cemetery in a private family ceremony where he lovingly maintained the family gravesites of his mother, father, brother, and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local fund supporting mothers and children in need, whom Gary always wanted to help.
Gary, you will be missed, but your memory lives on. May you rest in peace.
