

George was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1942. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1949 to 1951 as a MP in Tokyo, Japan. He later became a woodworker retiring in 1988.
George was a volunteer at Everett Providence Pacific campus for many years and enjoyed it very much. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and the watching the Mariners.
George was preceded in death by wife, Betty; parents, Joseph and Elvira Mayer; his brother, Joe; sister, Louise Lark; and son-in-law Larry Greenhalgh.
He is survived by daughters, Barbara (Dan) Anderson, Sharon (Bill) Christy, Karen (Brad) Seat and Lois Melhy; brother, John Mayer of Albany, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Barbara (John) Bright, Kari (John) Moore, Kim (Frank) Fillioe, Laurie (Shawn) Sween, Brent (Ginger) Tiffany, Lisa (Larry) Tiffany, Stephen Melby, and Sharon Melby; 16 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Grant, Andrew, Kendrick, Christina, Kayla, Kelsey, Tylor, Ashley, Amanda, Nick, Kaylee, Brittney, Bryce, Nevaeh and Jayden; and great-great-grandchildren, Delilah, Emory and Adisyn.
We would like to thank Washington Oaks Retirement Center of Everett for all their loving care and there support while he was a resident there for six years, he had made many friends.
