Though the hour was early, she was embraced by those who loved her most, and welcomed into Heaven by her father, John Bernerd Haack, who had gone before her to prepare a place.
Heather was a passionate lover of the outdoors and was known for her boundless energy. To many, she was affectionately known as the walker, the biker, the grocery lady, the bag lady, and even “Forrest.” There were few streets, trails, or alleys in her community that she hadn’t explored. Rain or shine, she could often be spotted carrying groceries for miles, just for the joy of being outside.
She was also deeply devoted to children—not just her own, but all children. As a longtime daycare teacher, Heather became the beloved “neighborhood mom,” always making sure every child was fed, cared for, and felt seen. When it came to her own children, her love knew no bounds. When her son underwent intensive heart surgery, Heather refused to leave the hospital until he could walk out on his own 2 feet. Her undying love and devotion to her children was beyond compare.
Heather also couldn’t resist a sweet treat now and then, and became known for her own exceptional baking skills, a skill that she used to spread abundant joy and comfort to all those who were blessed to know her.
Born in Everett, Washington, Heather was the second youngest of six children raised by Camilla (Kippy) Haack. She grew up in Lake Stevens, where she excelled as both a student and a track athlete. In her youth, she worked in the daycare at Lake Stevens Assembly of God Church, nurturing the beginnings of her lifelong commitment to care and service.
Throughout her life, Heather held a variety of jobs, eventually becoming a phlebotomist at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. In 1994, she married Dave Bodach and soon dedicated herself fully to raising their three children.
Heather is survived by her children—Naomi Mukiibi and son-in-law Noah, Karl Haack, and Paul Bodach—as well as her cherished granddaughter, Nadia Mukiibi. Her spirit, energy, and selflessness live on in the lives she touched and the family she loved so fiercely.
Though her loss is greater than what can be put into words, may she rest in her Fathers embrace, knowing that we think of her in every song, in every sweet summer breeze, and in every smile shared between those that we hold most dear.
A celebration of Heather’s life is planned for the near future. Condolences can be sent to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please consider making a donation to the children’s care program at the YMCA in her name.
