
Jack E. Gunn, 90, of Lake Stevens, WA passed away on April 19th surrounded by family. Jack was born in Los Angeles, CA. on May 5, 1922 to Charles and Nellie (Farmer) Gunn but had enjoyed living in the Pacific Northwest the past 33 years. During World War II, while serving in Europe, he met Violet Smith, and they were married March of 1946 in London, England.
As a teenager, Jack bicycled from California to the 1939-40 New York Worlds Fair. Jack worked for Kaiser Steel in Fontana, CA. for many years as an Auditor and Supervisor of the Payroll Department. During retirement Jack enjoyed “working again” as a real estate agent in the Lake Stevens area for Bell Properties. After retirement from Kaiser, he & his wife spent five years motoring around the United States until they settled in Granite Falls, WA. After his wife passed away in 2003 he continued traveling with his daughter.
Jack is survived by his daughter Roberta Freni-Vender, son-in-law Carl Vender, three granddaughters – Tricia, Sandra and Amy, six great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews here in the US and also in London as well as numerous friends worldwide. He is also survived by his companion Gayle Bray and dog “Sunny”. Sunny was a regular visitor at Bethany at Pacific during Jacks final months.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, a son, his parents, four siblings and son-in-law John Freni.
A memorial service will be held later this year in London, England.
