Patricia Marie Speck-Tomulty was born on Mother’s day, May 13, 1926, and lived to see her 98th birthday when she went “over the rainbow” 1 days later on May 14, 2024. Patricia, (Patty) to all of who knew her, presented no flare, no flamboyancy, no pretense of class or status or proud demeanor. She was just plain Patty. But she had a regal elegance about her “plainness,” because she could have dinner with royalty and never lose her common touch. Her nieces often awe at how at ease Patty was with her unconditional positive regard for others. She always respected what her loved ones believed, what they valued and never once expressed a condemning word or judgement. She was never confused about who was in charge because she would always say “God knows, and because He knows, I don’t have to worry about it.”
She was born to Isadore Speck and Marie Saltzman Rainville in Deer Lodge Montana. Patty, along with Dorothy (Aunt Dody) both attended the private all girls Catholic school, Powel County Girls School in Deer Lodge, Montana. Quite a bit later her family was blessed by her youngest sister, Darlene, both sisters have since gone on to heaven.
She met her husband John Joseph (Jack) Tomulty at a dance competition in Butte, Montana. She fell in love that dance partner for life, had 6 Catholic children, 25 grand children and a whole host of great grandchildren. Her husband and two sons, James Leo and David William precede her to heaven and she parts with her children Michael Patrick, Patrick Michael, MaryAnne and Michael Jacob Meske and informally adopted daughter, Lisa Grenell.
No visiting orphaned or abandoned child was left out of her motherhood. If you were left alone without a parent or had no family to call your own, Patty was your mother…for life. She adopted and nurtured such wonderful kids as Mike and Bruce Alexander, Kip Kipperberg, Gary Nondorf, Dennis Dugeon Corky Kissinger and a whole host of others who felt comfortable around our dinner table…which was never empty.
She was an amazing lady, mother and friend. She fueled her passion with kindness, grace and unconditional love. She leaves a vacancy in the world that she left as big and wide as an ocean
A celebration of life for Patricia will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at External Service Location, 4200 88th St NE, Marysville, WA 98270, followed by a graveside service from 11:40 AM to 12:00 PM.
