He was born on January 7th, 1946, to Grace Scott and Kenneth Porter in Seattle. He spent much of his life living in the Greater Seattle Area.
Richard lived a rich life surrounded by family.
After graduating high school in 1964, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany as a rifleman for 3 years.
Shortly after being discharged from the Army, Richard was hired as a bus driver for Seattle Transit, which later became King County Metro. He drove for 45 years and was beloved by his coworkers. His favorite part of the job was driving patrons to Husky games after which he got free entrance to the games.
In 1968, he married Joann Porter née Francis. They have 2 children, Paula Wittersheim and Tina Castillo, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Carol Pope and Barbara Smith, his brother Donald Porter, and his wife, JoAnn, of 56 years.
He is preceded by his siblings Sharon Rosen, Randal Warren, Gary Warren, and his grandchild Aaron Clark.
He will be missed by the big community of family and friends whose lives he enriched.
