
Charles Robert Wheeler, 90, of Maysville died Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Bluegrass Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Mr. Wheeler, the widower of Elva Browning Wheeler, was born in Mason County, Kentucky on May 23, 1923, to the late Forrest and May Whalen Wheeler. He was retired from Brock-McVey in Maysville and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army.
Survivors include his son, C. R. Wheeler, Jr. (Cyndi) of Lexington, KY; his daughter, Paula Ann Brown (Joseph) of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren, Christopher Wheeler Bone (Della), Lauren Rogers (Shayne), Evan Hiatt (Marisa), Colin Wheeler, Cameron Wheeler, Adam Brown (Kristen), and Meredith Brown (Scott Gschwender); seven great grandchildren; one brother, Walter Wheeler (Evelyn), and four sisters, Jenny May Landreth, Madeline Ruff (Robert), Marceline McDowell, and Violet Jolly. Besides his wife and parents, Mr. Wheeler was preceded in death by one sister, Alberta Silvey.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Bluegrass Care and Rehabilitation Center administration and staff for the outstanding care they provided Mr. Wheeler while a resident there. A special thank you is extended to Ms. Brenda Ivy and Ms. Sandy Kennedy (nurses), Ms. Carra Depriest (dietitian), and Chaplain Neal Myers for the loving care and friendship they provided to Mr. Wheeler and the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Orangeburg Christian Church Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 9:30 am, Rev. Norman H. Wasson officiating. Private interment service will follow for the family.
