

Frances Hord Humphrey Combs, 81, of Maysville, Kentucky died Monday, May 09, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Combs was the widow of William “Tubby” Combs who died in 1997. She was a devoted member of the Scott United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and was Superintendent Youth Leader, Choir Member, United Methodist Women’s President and Secretary and served in many other offices in the Church. Mrs. Combs worked for the Maysville and the Mason County School Systems for thirty years and retired in 1996. She was born in Mason County, Kentucky on January 5, 1935 the daughter of the late Hal and Ada Bruce Hord. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Breckenridge (Larry) of Maysville, KY; grandsons, Joshua Breckenridge and Terrence Breckenridge; granddaughter, Tyra Bare and one sister, Brenda Malone (Alonzo) of Louisville, KY. She also leaves one sister-in-law, Hilda Hord of Maysville, KY, several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Waine “Tony” Humphrey, six brothers, Charlie Slater, John Lewis Hord, Hal Hord, Jr., Quinton Paige, Vincent Paige and David Hord and five sisters, Alberta Morton, Flossie Paige, Alliene Paige, Sabe Hord and Vernol Cord. Funeral services for Frances Combs will be held at the Scott United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2016 with Rev. James Turley officiating. Burial will be in the Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers will be C. E. Overly, Frederick Overly, Jr., George Hord, David “Beaver” Morton, William Thomas and Jonathan Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jackson Bennett and the Scott Aires Choir. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scott United Methodist Church, East Fourth Street, Maysville, KY 41056. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home.
