Jean Joyce Atherton

Jean Kennan Atherton, 83, of Maysville, Kentucky died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Atherton formerly owned and operated A-R Systems, Incorporated and was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio and the Central Baptist Church in Maysville. She was born in Maysville, Kentucky on May 31, 1933 the daughter of the late John Everett and Stella R. Stephenson Kennan. Survivors include her three children, David K. Chasteen (Rhonda), Paul R. Chasteen and Claudia Kay Chasteen; eight grandchildren, Courtney C. Hughes, Angela Chasteen, Malachi Chasteen, Kelly Ray Broils, Grecia M. Chasteen, Elizabeth L. Hopkins, John Graves and Jason Gallagher; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Kennan and one nephew, John Kennan. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Claud Edward Chasteen, her second husband, Milton Gene Atherton; one daughter, Rebecca Suzan Chasteen and one grandson, Benjamin D. Chasteen. Memorial services for Jean Atherton will be held at the Central Baptist Church, Maysville, KY at 4:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2016 with Pastor Mark Powell and Pastor Jeff Bradley officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. The arrangements are entrusted with the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home.
