

Retta Pearl Riggen, 89, former longtime resident of Bracken County, died February 9, 2013 at The Care Center at Kenton Pointe. She was the widow of Wilbur Riggen who died June 28, 2005. Mrs. Riggen was born at Martin in Lewis County on October 5, 1923 the daughter of the late Robert and Grace Hiles Polley. She was a former member of the Bracken County Homemakers and a member of New Hope Christian Church, Mason County Senior Citizens, Augusta Red Hat Group, had been a hospital volunteer with the Mason County RSVP, and a mail box member of the Dover Homemakers. Mrs. Riggen had lived in Maysville since the death of her husband in 2005. She is survived by two daughters Donna (Paul) Dennis of Crestview Hills, Sonja (Eric) Eads of Maysville, three sons Dan Riggen of West Chester, OH, Roger (Jeanne) Riggen of Jacksonville, FL, and Stephen Riggen of Bracken Co., 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Ritzie, Jason Earl (Kristin) Riggen, Sheriff Riggen, Jason Dale (Danielle) Riggen, Ryan Eads, Matthew Eads, and Stephen Riggen II, seven great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Betty McClannahan of Augusta, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers Robert Polley, Elmer Polley, Clarence McClannahan Jr., and Thomas McClannahan. Funeral services for Retta Riggen will be Wednesday, February 13 at 1 P.M. at the New Hope Christian Church with Rev. Michael Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bladeston Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at the church.
