
Miss Ruby Jean Thomas passed away Friday, April 4, 2014. Ruby was born in Maysville on June 14, 1929 to Millard and Mary Weaver Thomas. She retired from the Carnation Company after over 40 years of service and lived her life with her parents in Maysville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Winslow Thomas, and her sister, Iris Dean Thomas (Roger) Cline. Her sister, Sharon (Bob) Thomas Gast, survives her and resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She had a loving relationship with her family of nieces and nephews, to whom she was a second mother, including Winn’s children – Billy, Mary Dawn and Tara Thomas (Steve) Ferrell; Dean’s children - Deborah Cline (Mike) Lewis, LuAnn Cline Doyle, and Mark Thomas (Lindsay) Cline; and Sharon’s children - Stacey Gast (Jerry) Cook and Heather Gast Overbay, as well as their children and grandchildren whom she cared for and loved as her own. She also will be missed by a special cousin, Mary Ann Thomas, and her brother-in-law of over 60 years, Roger Cline, who visited her daily to keep her company and assure she was being properly cared for.
Ruby was a life-long member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church that later became Central Baptist Church in Maysville. She always enjoyed her association with friends she connected with through her church and her work place.
Services for Ruby Jean Thomas will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 8, at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Robert Donovan officiating, and visitation prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be family members including Bob Gast, Mark Cline, Keith Browning, Mike Lewis, Jeremy Hampton and Bo Thompson. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Plumville.
