Born in Baltimore, Maryland to Peter and Shirley Turlington, Anita grew up in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and graduated from Hampton High School. She met the love of her life, Wayne (Albert) Vest, while working at Hampton Chevrolet. They shared 50 wonderful years of marriage before Wayne preceded her in death on December 6, 2024. She longed to be with him again.
Anita later made her home in McDonough, Georgia, but she never lost her Virginia spirit. She had a servant’s heart, always caring deeply for her family and showering them with gifts. She loved her dog, her Corvette, and the joy of shopping.
Dementia stole many of her later years, but it never stole the love her family felt for her — or the love she had given so freely throughout her life.
Anita is survived by her two daughters, Shana Steiner (Larry Steiner) of Yorktown, Virginia, and Heather Vest Whisnant (Scott Whisnant) of Monroe, Georgia; her brother, Kenny Turlington of Gloucester, Virginia; and three cherished granddaughters: Ashton, Ava, and Anslie.
The family will gather privately to honor her life. Anita was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words by all who knew her.
