Bella M Bennett

Bella Bennett of Dothan passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 in Stockbridge Georgia at her daughters home. She was 96 years old. In keeping with Bella’s wishes, memorialization will be by cremation with Searcy Funeral Home directing. Bella was born in London, UK on September 17, 1926 to the late John and Violet Viscardo. After the German bombardment of London began in 1940, they moved to Oxford, UK in search of a safe home. Bella remained in Oxford where she met a young American soldier, Cpl. Clive Bennett of Rome Georgia. They wed in 1951 and started a family. Clive received orders in 1955 for transfer to Parks AFB, California and the family returned to the U.S. After several overseas assignments, Clive retired from the U.S. Army in 1970 and settled just outside of Ft. Rucker, Alabama in Daleville. Clive passed away in 1979. Bella was a long time employee of AAFES until her retirement in 1993, after which she relocated to Dothan, Alabama. Bella began volunteer work at Flowers Hospital and continued for several years, ending in 2016. In 2021 she moved to Georgia to be with family. She will be sorely missed by many. Survivors include 1 daughter, Jane Nadeau (Al) of Stockbridge, Ga.; 1 son, Gary Bennett (Charlotte) of Evans, Ga.; 3 Grandchildren, Shelby Herring of Griffin, Ga., Andrew Bennett (Christine), of Athens, Ga., SFC Nicholas Bennett (Michelle), of Greenville, Tx.; 5 great grandchildren, Kayla Crews of Locust Grove, Ga., Cal Harrison, of Griffin, Ga., Oliver Bennett, Rowan Bennett, and Cora Bennett, all of Athens, Ga.; 2 great-great- grandchildren, Allison Dover and Axle Brooks, of Locust Grove, Ga.
