

Mr. Billy M. Fort, age 85 of McDonough, Georgia passed away May 15, 2016. He was born in Dublin, Georgia to the late George and Pennie Brantley Fort. He faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a fireman. He was the first paid fireman that McDonough ever had as everyone else was volunteer. Mr. Fort served as the McDonough Fire Chief for 18 years and was Past President of the Georgia Fire Chief’s Association. He served on the Board of Georgia Standards and Training for 11 years. Bill was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Brannan Fort; children, Jeffrey Malvin (Becky) Fort, Kevin Scott (Angela) Fort all of McDonough and Allyson (Joe) Kelly of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brother, J.C. Fort of Longview, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Billy M. Fort will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church with full honors provided by the Henry County Fire Department Honor Guard. Pastor Rick Statham will officiate. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Contributions are asked to be made to Salem Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Fort.
