I have been friends with Carl for about thirty years. He was my three kids youth leader! He and my late husband were very  good friends. Carl we will miss you dearly! Go rest high upon that mountain your work on earth is done. We love you!  Susie scott Darlene and Tammy!

My name is Michael Cooper.  I am a MARTA retiree.  I worked with Mr. Carl Gunter for many years, but the best memories I have of Carl was when I was project manager for the TCSU project, and we needed input from the Yard Tower Supervisors.  Carl was always willing to take time out to meet with us, and share his expertise and recommendations to make the system work better.  He made several trips to Rochester, NY with the team to witness factory testing and was always very professional and took his position at MARTA very seriously.  I extend my deepest condolences to the family, as I recall him speaking often of his family of what a big part of his life they were.  I also know he will be very missed by the MARTA family as well.  May God bless the Gunter family during this time.

I’M TARRENCE A STATION AGENT AT MARTA WHEN I FIRST MET CARL GUNTER WHEN HE WAS A TRAIN OPERATOR AT DORAVILLE STATION 23 YEARS AGO I WOULD RIDE ON HIS TRAIN GOING TO MY ASSIGNED STATION OR I WOULD WAVE TO HIM ON THE PLATFORM WHEN CLOSING THE TRAIN DOORS WITHIN A FEW YEARS LATER ON THE JOB I WOULD SEE HIM AT AVONDALE YARD AS A YARD TOWER SUPERVISOR WAS THE LAST TIME I  SAW HIM ON THE MAIN LINE NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN AT MARTA 20 YEARS  I WOULD OFTEN HEAR HIM ON THE RADIO TALKING TO RAIL CONTROL HE WAS A VERY GOOD GUY AND VERY HUMBLED AND HE WILL BE DEEPLY MISSED  I EXPRESSED MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE GUNTER FAMILY!!!

This is heartbreaking for the Marta family. I known, Mr. Gunter for a short while, we we're co - worker from Marta (Rail)  he was a kind , warm and loving man, he loved God and his family. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to the family. Rest in Peace.

       I met Carl at Marta in 1996, when we became bus operators. We attended class together to transfer into Rail service. I recall his excellant performance as a student. It was no surprise to me when he later became a supervisor. He always spoke highly of his children and his church. I will always treasure the spiritual advice he shared with me.

I AM A MARTA RETIREE/ RAIL SUPERVISOR. I MET MR. GUNTER WHEN HE CAME OVER TO THE RAIL. GUNTER KEPT A SMILE  AND A CHEERFUL ATTITUDE. MY PRAYERS AND CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY. REST IN PARADISE GUNTER. GOD LOVES YOU

Mr. Gunter was a co-worker of mine at Marta. We were both part  of management and communicated often  as we both diligently worked to ensure that safety and on time performance was achieved daily or as close as possible. In staff meetings Mr. Gunter was often quiet but often would make suggestions that would improve service which reduced delays for our customers. I was shocked to hear of his transition. I retired in 2009 so I have not communicated with him since  then. I made a call to notify him that I was retiring and he congratulated me and stated that he wished me well.
My deepest condolences are extended to the Gunter family. May God's love and power sustain you during this time of bereavement.
