Carolyn Parker McCoy, age 90, went home to be with the Lord November 17, 2019 after suffering an unexpected brain bleed. She resided at Benton Village Assisted Living Facility in Stockbridge Georgia. She was born August 8, 1929 in Forest Park Georgia and graduated from Hampton High School. Carolyn attended college at West Georgia and later obtained a teaching degree at Georgia State. She spent most of her teaching career in Clayton County schools in the fourth grade classroom. She was a light for Jesus and served Him well as a member of Eastside Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school well into her 80's. Her brothers: Carl Parker Jr., Myron and Harold Parker, as well as her sisters; Thelma Johnson and Janelle Grellman and her parents: Carl J. and Luana Parker preceded her in death. Her devoted husband of 58 years, William D. McCoy, and a grandson, Darrell McCoy also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters; Helen Steele and Ethel Foster; son, Ken McCoy; daughter, Patsy Cash; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Pickens (Brian) of Locust Grove, Daniel Cash (Charlayne) of Covington and B.J. Cash of McDonough; and 3 great grandchildren, Brantley Pickens, Coy and Sarah Cash. Carolyn enjoyed teaching, gardening, giving to and laughing with others. She was always willing to help anyone in need and enjoyed good conversation with friends and family. Her kindness, positivity and sweet spirit impacted each person who encountered her. Funeral services for this one-in-a-million kind of woman will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 11am at Haisten Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family at Haisten Funeral Home Wednesday November 20, 2019 from 4pm-7pm.
