Cary forever treasured her years in McDonough, Georgia, where she was born and raised. Here, she was surrounded by both her loving immediate family, and her extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. In McDonough, Cary developed lifelong friendships that significantly contributed to the fullness of her life.
After graduating from Henry County High School, Cary went on to study at Mount Vernon Seminary and Junior College, and afterward, moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to begin her adult life.
Cary was a kind, beautiful and elegant woman, frequently described as the epitome of a true southern lady. She could be fearless and loved an adventure. She enjoyed lively conversation, delighting others with her enchanting southern drawl. Cary had the greenest of thumbs and relished caring for her plants. She had the gift of a southern cook, finding immense pleasure in preparing southern delicacies for family and friends, her cornbread being a special favorite of her son Ramsey.
More than anything, Cary was a devoted mother of four and grandmother of six. Throughout her life, Cary knew great joy alongside deep sorrow through loss and hardship, the losses she endured with grace and resilience, and the trials she overcame with quiet dignity.
Cary’s life came full circle when she reunited with a dear friend from her young Atlanta days, Quill Healey. Together they traveled to destinations far and near, and shared experiences that fulfilled her dream of companionship and travel.
Cary will be greatly missed by those who loved her, especially her sister, Elizabeth C. Maddox, and brother, James M. Carmichael (Sue), her daughter, Elizabeth Pidcock Drake (William), and son, Wayne Carmichael (Katherine), her grandchildren Jordan Pidcock Boyd (Josh), Josephine Redwine Drake, Francis Paulina Drake, Eamon Loehl Ford Carmichael, Burgandie Marie Redwine Carmichael and great grandchildren Aurora Boyd and Theodore Boyd, and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Redwine Carmichael and Dan Carmichael, sons Frank Ramsey Pidcock IV and Dan Carmichael Pidcock, and grandson Ramsey Jones Pidcock.
Cary’s family would like to thank her caregivers at Golden Ivy Personal Care for their compassionate care and their ability to make Cary smile during this last year.
