Donald "Leon" Green

Mr. Donald "Leon" Green, age 81, of Jonesboro, Georgia passed away August 10, 2021. He was born November 13, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late George Roy and Irene Koon Green. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Marlene Banks Green and a son, James "Jimmy" Green. Leon, who was a retired truck driver, was an avid golfer that regularly played along with his son, David. His favorite golf pro was Jack Nicklaus, the Golden Bear. Leon was also "The" Georgia Tech football fan; loved to watch Westerns and collect James Dean memorabilia. Survivors include his children, Debbie Hernandez of Jonesboro, Cindy (Carmelo) Cano of McDonough and David Green of McDonough; grandchildren, Crystal, Misty and Ray Patterson, Justin Lyle, Courtney Colin, Sandi Green, Sandra Gray, Jose Cano, Raymond and Kasandra Patterson, David Green, Jr., Hannah, Hunter, Jamie, and Avery Green; numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; sisters, Louise Samples of Jackson and Diane (Tom) Brooks of Carnesville. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 - 2:00 PM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit the family Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
