Edna Whitaker

Mrs. Edna Mae Huckaby Whitaker, age 99, of McDonough, GA passed away January 3, 2017. She was born in Spalding County the daughter of the late Tommie L. Hatton Huckaby and Otis R. Huckaby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Luther Whitaker, SR; son, Jim Whitaker and 12 siblings. Mrs. Whitaker enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, camping, sewing, crocheting, playing bingo and other games at the assisted living home. She was the oldest member of McDonough First United Methodist Church. Survivors are her daughter, Joan Hall of Athens; daughter-in-law, Pat Whitaker of McDonough; grandchildren, Randy Hall (Shana) of Commerce, Susan Harvey (Tommy) of Statham, and Karen Maddox (Marty) of Jackson; great grandchildren, Kyle Harvey (Beth), Cole Harvey (Penny), Ryan Maddox, and Maddi Hurd; great-great grandson, Thomas Harvey. Funeral service for Mrs. Whitaker will be on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at McDonough First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Maeser officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
