Ellen Tomlin Sims

Ellen Tomlin Sims, age 92, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023. She was born in Newton County, Georgia to the late Orien and Lulline Tomlin. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James Sims; four siblings Mildred Smith, Cornelia Smith, Clark Tomlin Sr., and Edgar Tomlin.

Mrs. Sims is survived by her two children Ron (Barbara) Sims and Cindi Palmer; grandchildren Matt (Antoinette) Sims, Josh (Emina) Sims, Brittany Amerson, and Chad Palmer; great grandchildren Ciara, Maddy, and Luke Sims, Gavin, Bryley, and Journey Palmer, and Brayden and Brooklynn Amerson; and many other beloved family members.

Ellen enjoyed her work at JCPenney for over 24 years and was a member of the Penney Loafers club. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and could be found cheering on her favorite driver. She was a member of Sharon Church. She loved to cook, especially baking, so much so she was in charge of the desserts for the JoAnn ministry at Sharon Church. Through the years she traveled with the church and camped with her family. Ellen undoubtedly loved going to church and her Sunday school class. She truly loved God and her family.

A visitation for Ellen will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, Georgia 30253. A celebration of life will be Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM, in the Haisten chapel. A burial will immediately follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park, 640 McGarity Rd, McDonough, Georgia 30253.
