Evelyn West

Mrs. Evelyn Tucker West, age 90 of Jackson, Georgia passed away August 19, 2014. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Arthur Henry and Mattie Louvina Day Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jennings West, Jr., by a daughter and son in law, Evie Galloway Phillips and Tom Phillips and two sisters and four brothers. Evelyn was a member of Philippi Baptist Church and had been employed with Smead. She was an avid bowler, collected dolls and carousels, enjoyed yard sales, antiquing, square dancing, shopping and was a decorator. Survivors include sisters, Ethel Maddox of Jackson and Florine McBrayer of Fayetteville; step daughter and son in law, Wanda West Lyles and David of Jonesboro; grandsons, Christopher, Cody and Travis; nieces and nephews, Mickie Haney of Fayetteville, Brenda Hall of Fayetteville, Tina Varnadoe of LaGrange, Mike McBrayer of Senoia, Jeff Maddox of McDonough; a host of nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Dawkins will officiate. Friends may visit the family Friday, August 22, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Heritage Baptist Church in memory of Evelyn.
