

The earthly life of Gene Curtis Adams has come to an end. Gene was born on January 12, 1941 and passed away September 25, 2019. Gene was a native of Atlanta and attended Hoke Smith High School. As a southerner, Gene was proud of his heritage and belonged to The Sons of The Revolution and The Sons of Confederate Veterans. Prior to his retirement Gene worked for the last 25 years as a foreman in the printing department for Merchandising Services. Gene was also a very active Mason. He was a Past Worshipful Master of Forest Park Masonic Lodge #399, first in 1988 and then once again in 2007. He also served as president of Tara Shrine Club in 1984. Gene also held the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu. He was a caring husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He devoted his life to provide and care for his family. He will be missed by all. Gene was preceded in death by parents Eva Louise Bryson-Adams, Olphus Hinton Adams Sr. and his loving wife of 52 years Rita Ann Kilgore-Adams.
He is survived by Sister Barbara Cooper of Locust Grove; brother Olphus Adams Jr. and wife Brenda of Douglasville, daughter Janna Gilbert of McDonough; son Greg Adams and wife Toby of Bremen; son Tim Adams of Locust Grove. He was the proud grandfather of six. Victor Linwood and wife Rachel of Kennesaw, Jacob Hadlock of Decatur, Jordan Rodriguez and husband Luis of Stockbridge, Hannah Riddle and husband James of Clarksville, TN., Garrett Adams of Locust Grove, Morgan Adams of Griffin. Three great grandchildren Adian Linwood, Isabella and Maria Rodriguez. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2019. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
