Henry Brooks

Mr. Henry Russell Joseph Brooks Sr., age 83, of Locust Grove, GA passed away November 25, 2015. Mr. Brooks was born in Henry County the son of the late Mattie Blankenship Brooks and Henry Grady Brooks. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Turner and a sister, Frances Upchurch. Mr. Brooks enjoyed spending time with family and friends, preaching, visiting, wood working, and fishing. Mr. Brooks loved his Lord and Savior and served as a minister for 40 plus years, and 30 of those years were at East Juliette Baptist Church in Juliette, GA. He was known as Preacher Brooks. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church and had served in the past with the Honorary Sheriff staff. Survivors are his loving wife, Dorothy Kuhn Brooks of Locust Grove; children, Belinda Young (Robert) of Jenkinsburg, Donna Welch of Jackson, Debbie Youngberg (Edward) of Jenkinsburg, and Rusty Brooks (Jeanean) of Milner; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the funeral on Saturday evening from 4 – 6:00 PM. Funeral service will be on Sunday, November 29, 2015 – 2:00 PM at Philippi Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Seabolt and Rev Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
