

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Janna Lee Morris, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at the age of 90.
Janna was born on April 27, 1934, in Haywood County, North Carolina. Shortly after her birth, her family relocated to Griffin, Georgia, where she grew up surrounded by love and the strong values that shaped her life.
On July 15, 1955, Janna married her soulmate, William Thomas Morris (Billy) of McDonough, Georgia. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to love and partnership, lasting until Billy’s passing in 2011. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and shared memories.
Janna pursued a career in nursing, dedicating her life to caring for others. She worked for many years at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, where she gained experience and skill in her profession. She found her true calling as the Henry County Health Department Director, a role she held with passion and dedication until her retirement in 1997. Her work touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on her community.
Above all, Janna’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Mary Kathryn Stanford (Kathy). She cherished her special relationships with her grandchildren: Bill Morris, Teddy Morris, Katie Morris Thornton, and Josh and Dillon Tidwell. Her love for them was unmatched, and she found immense pride and joy in being a part of their lives.
Janna is survived by her beloved sister, Kathryn Harrison; her daughter, Kathy Stanford; her grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends who celebrate her remarkable life. She was predeceased by her husband, Billy; her son, William Thomas Morris Jr. (Bill); and her brother, John Harrison.
Janna will be remembered for her gentle spirit, dedication to family and community, and unwavering kindness. Her legacy of love and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A viewing will be held at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Georgia, on Saturday, January 4, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Eastlawn Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m.
