Jay was born on May 30, 1961, in Demopolis, Alabama, to the late Judy Black and Edward Jackson. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and wisdom to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Susan Marie Jackson of Forsyth, Georgia; his two daughters, Elizabeth Huggins (Daniel) and Rebecca Truax (Brian); and his seven cherished grandchildren, Makaylah George (Ephraim), Jaxson Huggins, Grant Huggins, Morghan Truax, Zoey Truax, Lilly-Ann Truax, and Charlotte Truax.
Jay is also survived by his uncle, Don Black (Christine), and aunt, Ellen Morton (Hugh); his brother, Burke (Brenda) Jackson of Chunchula, Alabama; his sister, Ellen Rozell of Hixson, Tennessee; along with many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jay had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures. He adored his faithful dog, Lucy, and rarely missed a chance to cheer on Auburn football, whether in the stadium or from the comfort of home. He found joy in trips to the beach, driving his Jeep, taking mini casino getaways, and cooking for family gatherings. Some of his happiest moments were spent sitting outside, sipping coffee, and watching nature.
He was known for his spontaneous singing, quick wit, and playful sense of humor. Jay had a gift for making people laugh while also sharing meaningful words of wisdom. Above all, he cherished his faith, his church family, and the time God granted him with his loved ones.
Jay will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the joyful memories he leaves behind.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30th, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Henry Baptist Church, 4035 Jodeco Road McDonough, GA 30253.
