Jerry Douglas Smith

Jerry Douglas Smith age 62 of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on January 21st, 2026. Jerry was born in Atlanta, GA on April 9th, 1963. Jerry loved the fact that he was born and raised in his beloved community, Cabbagetown. It is where he began his life of love and laughter. At a young age he began his passion for roofing. He also loved his job with horses and photography. As a teenager he worked on projects taking photographs for books about Cabbagetown, also as a teenager he met his soulmate and their beautiful journey began.

He is Preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Lisa Jan Smith. His sister Debra Jean Wells, his two brothers Ronnie Steve Smith and Ronald Smith. His parents Wilmer and Minnie Smith. He is Survived by his two siblings Terry Ann Baird and Johnny Smith. His four children, Christopher Smith, Jerry C. Smith(Lennan), Trista Smith, Abby Bearden(Joseph) and 10 grandchildren. Jerry took great pride in his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Knowing Jerry was a delight in itself with him never meeting a stranger and being the life of the party on any occasion with contagious laughter. He loved to give and receive love and laughs everywhere he went. His hobbies and passions as a father were watching NASCAR, comedy and jamming out to his favorite music. What was most important to him was family and spending time with his wife. Cherishing the moments with his wife and children making memories on the yearly family trip to The Great Smoky Mountains.

Leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter we will forever hold you in our hearts. A memorial service will be at a later date.
