

Mr. John B. Hammond Jr., “Jackie”, age 72, of McDonough, GA passed away September 6, 2016. Jackie was born in Dodgeville, WI the son of the late Grace Zwettler Hammond and John B. Hammond Sr. He was known to his family as a loving father, husband, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, hunting, sports, serving others, and a man of strong Christian faith. Jackie graduated from Warner Robins High School, and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia Southern where he was an All American baseball player and his Master’s Degree from Georgia State. He worked as a principal before his retirement for Randolph-Clay High School and Henry County High School. Survivors are his loving wife of 39 years, Debbie Hammond of McDonough; children, Lee Hammond (Kelly) of Rockwall, TX, Ladd Hammond (Tricia) of LaGrange, GA and Lane Hammond of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Hooper Hammond of LaGrange, Parker Hammond of Dallas, Whitfield Hammond of Lagrange, Finley Hammond of Dallas, Carter Goodrich of Lagrange, Hudson Hammond of Dallas and Lilly Grace Hammond of Lagrange; several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service for Jackie will be on Saturday, September 10, 2016 – 11:00 AM at Community Bible Church with Rev. Jack Bartlett and Rev. Gary Lester officiating.
